NEWS: This year, Schaumburg Youth Concert Orchestra will be combining into Schaumburg Youth Symphony Orchestra with Director Ron Polomchak.

PLEASE NOTE:

All SYO members participate in their school orchestra or band programs where available.
Orchestra placement is at the discretion of the director.

SYSO Tuition

Tuition for the 2026-27 season is $500.
Installment plans, Financial Assistance, and Scholarships available.
Tuition includes a $25 family donation to Al Larson Cultural Center Foundation (only one donation per family).
Families with more than one child enrolled in the program receive a $25 discount for each additional child after on child is paid in full.
All members receive an SYO t-shirt

DIRECTOR
RON POLOMCHAK

Ron Polomchak has been directing orchestras in the Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95 since 1995. Currently Mr. Polomchak directs the orchestra program at Lake Zurich Middle School South which includes the Chamber Orchestra, the Intermezzo Orchestra, the South Silly Strings and pit for the annual musical production. In Lake Zurich, Mr. Polomchak implemented a middle school strolling string program as well as the district summer orchestra program.

Mr. Polomchak has also served as an orchestra conductor at the Blue Lake International Fine Arts Camp in Michigan and directed the Lake Zurich Community Band. Mr. Polomchak received his Master of Music Education degree with an emphasis in Orchestral Conducting from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. There, he studied conducting with Stanley DeRusha. At Illinois Wesleyan University, Mr. Polomchak received a Bachelor of Music, cum Laude in Double Bass Performance. He studied double bass with Bill Koehler and conducting with Steve Eggleston. Mr. Polomchak has served as the IMEA District 7 Junior Orchestra Representative.

He is a member of the Conductors Guild, the National Association for Music Education, the Illinois Music Education Association, and the American String Teachers Association. Mr. Polomchak is an active performer on Double Bass performing locally throughout Chicagoland.

He was the recipient of the CUSD 95 Teachers Make a Difference Award in 1998.
