The Schaumburg Choral Artists is an advanced vocal ensemble providing a community choral opportunity for experienced adult singers in the Chicago northwest suburbs and outlying communities. This is an auditioned ensemble partially supported by member dues.

We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer Whiting as Schaumburg Choral Artists’ new Director.

 Jennifer Whiting, Director of Schaumburg Choral Artists, brings more than thirty years of experience as a conductor, collaborative pianist, teacher, and artistic leader. She holds advanced degrees in choral conducting from Northern Illinois University and bachelor’s degrees in piano and English from Rockford University. Throughout her career, she has directed community, church, and academic ensembles of all ages, with appointments including Music Director of DeKalb Festival Chorus and the Glen Ellyn–Wheaton Chorale, as well as Director of Music Ministries at Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton. 

Jennifer is passionate about developing meaningful experiences for singers and audiences alike through repertoire ranging from timeless masterworks to the music of living composers. She believes choral singing brings people together across generations and backgrounds, creating friendships, shared purpose, and joyful artistic experiences.

As Director, Jennifer looks forward to building on the strong foundation of Schaumburg Choral Artists, welcoming new voices from across the area, and inspiring the highest standards of musical excellence.

She is thrilled to contribute to Schaumburg’s vibrant arts community. She enjoys collaborating with other singers and instrumentalists, including youth and children’s ensembles, schools, churches, and local musicians. She has seen how these partnerships create more opportunities for everyone, broaden audiences, and strengthen the region’s musical life.

In addition to conducting, Jennifer is a collaborative pianist, private teacher, editor, and clinician. She is the Community Choir Chair for the Illinois chapter of the American Choral Directors Association, where she encourages connection and the exchange of ideas among community choruses across the state. 

Away from the podium, Jennifer enjoys spending time with family and friends, riding her bike around Huntley, and volunteering with Refuge for Women Chicago, where she teaches classes for women rebuilding their lives after experiencing trafficking. 

Jennifer is honored to lead Schaumburg Choral Artists and looks forward to making music with the singers, sharing inspiring performances with audiences, and helping the ensemble continue to grow in artistry, friendship, and service to the community.
